El artículo analiza las adaptaciones para la televisión de la obra de William Shakespeare Macbeth. El trabajo se divide en tres partes. La primera se ocupa de las adaptaciones fieles realizadas para televisión, analizando las versiones realizadas para Hallmark Hall of Fame en Estados Unidos en 1954, para ITV en Gran Bretaña en 1982 y para Estudio 1 en España en 1966. La segunda parte del artículo se centra en tres adaptaciones libres realizadas por la televisión británica en la última década: Macbeth on the State (BBC), Macbeth (1998) y el capítulo Macbeth de la tetralogía Shakespeare Retold (BBC). Por último, analizaremos adaptaciones de la obra en forma animada, como en Shakespeare: The Animated Tales, Los Simpson o Gárgolas.

This paper analyzes the adaptations for television of William Shakespeare'sMacbeth. The text is divided in three parts. The first one focus on the faithful adaptationsmade for television, analyzing the versions made for Hallmark Hall of Fame in the UnitedStates in 1954, for ITV in Great Britain in 1982 and Estudio 1 in Spain in 1966. The secondpart of the paper focus on three free adaptations made by the British television in thepast decade: Macbeth on the State (BBC), Macbeth (Channel 4) and the Macbeth episodeof the tetralogy Shakespeare Retold (BBC). Finally, we will analyze adaptations of theplay in cartoon, like in Shakespeare: The Animated Tales, The Simpsons or Gargoyles.
