Resumen de Aproximación al origen y evolución del Castillo de Sancti Petri (San Fernando, Cádiz)

• This paper represents the first study based especifically in the analisis of the Castillo de Sancti Petri . In these pages we will show an overview about the origins and historical evolution of the fortress, and at the same time we will offer some new information about the almost unknown fishery/cannery established on the island from the latemedieval period, which might be related with the origins of the castle.

  This article is based on archaeological and documentary sources, with especial attention on the remarkable collection of military maps of 16 th to 19 th centuries which bring a description the evolution of the different parts of the fortress.
