The word "Iogos" has un Greek a wide semantic field, wich contains more than thirty meanings. All of them are somehow related to the meaning of "word". However, it is clear that philosophers and scholars have tendency to translate the word as "reason". This meaning comes from the word "ratio", wich meant "calculation" in Latin. This transiation has implied the transition from the discursive Greek thought to the calculating Latin reason. For this reason, the transition from "logos" to "ratio" has implied a limitation in the semantic possibilities of the first word. This process caused the first reason crisis in the history of the western philosophy.
