Resumen de La historiografía del cuento fantástico en Venezuela
En el siguiente artículo se discuten algunas formulaciones relativas a la aparición y desarrollo del cuento fantástico venezolano. Su intención es desbrozar ciertos equívocos históricos relativos a esta especie de composiciones narrativas, las cuales se manifiestan en nuestro país primeramente dentro del ámbito de influencia del romanticismo latinoamericano, esto es, hacia la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, en pleno auge de los relatos de costumbres, de las leyendas y las tradiciones, y de aquella forma literaria de mucha más caracterización genérica denominada cuento romántico. Abstract This article discusses sume conceptions in regard to the arising and development of the Venezuelan fantastic short story. Its purpose is to make clear certain historic incorrectness associated to this kind of narrativa writing, which are manifestad, firstly underneath the influence of the Latin-American romanticism, that is, towards the second half of the XIX century, amid the splendor of short stories dealing with customs, legends and traditions, and of that literary style of a much more generic characterization, named romantic short story.
