Resumen de Roles temáticos de With en expresiones de miedo en un modelo cognitivo-gramatical

En el presente artículo pretendemos ofrecer una muestra de análisis cognitivo-gramatical, según el modelo de R. W. Langacker (cfr. Langacker, 1987; 1991a; 1991b; 2000), de tres expresiones en lengua inglesa procedentes, en el caso presente, de la novela "The Experiment" (Darnton, J. 1999), y seleccionadas "ad hoc" de un corpus de expresiones recogidas de novelas de suspense, con contenido emotivo relacionado con el miedo. Su característica fundamental es la diferencia en el valor temático de los elementos que aparecen con la preposición "with", cada uno de los cuales conlleva una representación cognitivo-gramatical diferente. Pretendemos argüir a favor de un análisis predicativo (cfr. Martín Morillas y Pérez Rull, 1998) que profundice en los roles temáticos y en los valores de los elementos preposicionales como un aspecto fundamental de la representación cognitivo-gramatical en el modelo langackeriano. Como complemento, argüiremos también que ciertos aspectos psico-biológicos de la experiencia emotiva (cf. Buck, 1986; Damasio, 1999; LeDoux 1986a, 1986b) contribuyen a profundizar en la representación emotivo-cognitiva.

In this article we offer a sample of a cognitive-grammatical analysis, following R. W. Langacker¿s model (cf. Langacker, 1987; 1991a; 1991b; 2000) of three expressions in English encoding the emotion fear. The three sample expressions which are part of the novel "The Experiment" (Darnton, J. 1999), have been chosen "ad hoc" from an initial corpus of fear expressions from contemporary thrillers. The focus of our analysis will be the different thematic value of the preposition "with" occurring in the three expressions in question, each of them with a different representation. It is our objective to argue for the need of a predicative analysis of emotive expressions (cf. Martín Morillas and Pérez Rull, 1998) that would include psycho-biological aspects of the emotive experience, as part of the cognitive-grammatical representation in Langacker¿s model. As such, we will draw upon the work of psycho-biologists (cf. Buck, 1986; Damasio, 1999; LeDoux, 1986a, 1986b) for insights into an understanding of the cognitive-emotive representation of emotive expressions.
