    El tratamiento del sector posterior del maxilar atrófico puede obligar al cirujano a recurrir a técnicas quirúrgicas complejas. Se presenta la descripción de las técnicas de implantes pterigoideos y cigomáticos que tiene como objetivo la rehabilitación posterior del maxilar sin recurrir a injertos óseos. Se describe la técnica, sus indicaciones y se revisan series presentadas en la literatura.

    Implant treatment of the atrophic posterior maxilla can oblige the surgeon to use advanced surgical techniques. We describe the so called "pterygoid and zygomatic implants", that aim to rehabilitate the maxilla without employing bone grafts or alloplastic materials. The surgical technique, its indications and other authors experiences are presented.
