Con el ejemplo de la asunción por la heráldica occidental del águila bicéfala , la investigación de la "emigración" desde el Mediterráneo oriental al occidental (entre los siglos XIII y XVI) de este símbolo, considerado como emblema del Imperio Romano Oriental ("Basileia ton Romaion") o escudo de la última dinastía imperial de los Paleólogos, podría contribuir al estudio de la percepción, en el Occidente latino, de la ideología política bizantina.
By the example of the assumption of the imperial double-headed eagle in the western pre-heraldic, investigating the "migrations" from Eastern to Western Mediterranean (from XIIIth to XVIth Century) of that symbol, considered as emblem of the Eastern Roman Empire ("Basileia ton Romaion") or coat of the last imperial dynasty of the Paleologi, may offer a contribute to study of perception of the byzantine political ideology in the Latin West.
