El plan de estudios de 1786, por el que se introduce la Ilustración en la Universidad de Valencia, alcanza a extender su aplicación, en la facultad de Leyes y Cánones, hasta el trienio liberal, debido,fundamentalmente, a la decadencia del plan de 1807. El ayuntamiento y el claustro disputarán y solicitarán repetidamente la recuperación del plan de 1786, en un intento por conservar sus escasas prerrogativas. Los escolares, al margen, y pese a estudiar según el plan Caballero, conseguirán graduarse según el plan Blasco con la intención de allanarse el acceso a la abogacía; menos cursos y exámenes más fáciles. The syllabus of 1786, a product of the Enlightenment in the University of Valencia, remained in existence, at the School of Law, until the triennial liberal period, mainly because, of the failure of the 1807 syllabus. The town council and the teaching staff requesled repeatedly the recovery of the Blasco syllabus, in order to keep their few privileges. On the other hand, most of the students, in spíte of studing the Caballero syllabus, were able to gradúate under the Blasco syllabus, which demanded fewer years of study, and offered less difficulty in getting into the legal profession.
