  Civilització i Humanització, eixos del capital social [ALEJANDRO LANDERO] Episodis i realitats com la greu crisis soferta per l'Argentina l'any 2001 ens permeten ressaltar que l'enfortiment del capital social, el qual pretén recuperar el sentit i la vitalitat de l'espai públic, és el gran repte de la democràcia contemporània. Concebent el capital social com el conjunt de valors de cooperació i de solidaritat que assumeixen les comunitats com a forma de vida, es comprèn la importància que diferents corrents filosòfics (com ara el comunitarisme, l'humanisme civic o el republicanisme recent) atorguen als vincles comunitaris, els quals generen forts lligams de pertinença i d'identitat social. Per això l'autor reclama, en aquest punt, la recuperació de l'amistat cívica, que Tomàs d'Aquino considerava un element indispensable per construir el bé comú, i l'enfortiment de l'àmbit comunitari. Així hom podrà generar capital social, perquè estarem en condicions de construir una societat civilitzada i alhora humanitzada, on imperin els principis ètics d'evitar el mal i de promoure el bé. Ens serà útil sortir de la dialèctica Estat-mercat, tot permetent que la persona, la seva renovació moral i la dimensió comunitaria tornin a esdevenir protagonistes de la política.

  Civilisation and Humanization, the axes of social capital [ALEJANDRO LANDERO] Episodes and realities such as the great crisis that Argentina went through in 2001 allow us to draw attention to the strengthening of social capital, which aims to recover the meaning and the vitality of the public space, is the great challenge of contemporary democracy. Conceiving social capital as the ensemble of values of cooperation and of solidarity that communities take on board as a way of life, one understands the importance that different philosophical streams (such as communitarism, civil humanism or the recent republicanism) afford to community links, which generate strong bonds of belonging and social identity. Thus, here the author calls for a recovery of civil friendship, regarded by Saint Thomas Aquinas as an indispensable element for building the common good, and the strengthening of the community. Thus, man will be able to generate social capital, because we will be in a position to build a civilised and humanised society, where the ethical principles of avoiding evil and doing good prevail. It will be of use in getting us out of the Market-State dialectics, making it possible for persons, their moral renovation and the community dimension to be political protagonists once again.
