    Maritain i el futur d'Europa [JOSEP A. DURAN I LLEIDA]] La Unió Europea, igual com s'ha dit dels Estats, no és res fora de les persones ni de la seva voluntat. En paraules de Josep A. Duran i Lleida, President del Comitè de Govern d'Unió Democràtica de Catalunya, el projecte polític que estem construint serà bo si aconsegueix acostar-nos més al bé comú de què parlava Maritain, del que tot just s'acaba de commemorar el 30è aniversari de la seva mort. Avui dia no cal sentir-se seguidor de Maritain per compartir la idea que Europa ha de continuar progressant en la seva integraciò. Tots els partits politics, llevat d'algunes excepcions, són europeistes. Pere) el cert és que hi ha diferència entre el model democratacristià i el model dels qui entenen Europa com un simple instrument per consolidar la posició de cada Estat en una àrea major i més preparada per a enfrontar-se a la globalització. L'autor de l'article afirma amb rotunditat que la democraciacristiana té un projecte propi per a Europa, i que aquest projecte comparteix tant l'esperit dels pares fundadors com també tota la filosofia que va inspirar l'obra de Maritain. Per això, Maritain és el futur d'Europa i també de la humanitat sencera que necessita de persones com ell, capaços d'actuar en múltiples fronts a partir del compromís amb la pròpia consciència i amb la humanitat.

    Maritain and the future of Europe [JOSEP A. DURAN I LLEIDA] The European Union is nothing without people or their will. This has also been said of the state. According to Josep A. Duran i Lleida, President of the Governing Committee of Unió Democràtica de Catalunya, the political project that we are now building will be a good one if it manages to bring us closer to the common good that Maritain, who died thirty years ago, talked about. Even so, nowadays one need not be a follower of Maritain to share the idea that Europe must continue to progress in its integration. All political parties, barring some exceptions, are pro-European, although the truth is that there is a difference between the Christian Democrat model and the model of those who see Europe as a mere instrument for consolidating each State's position in a wider area, and more prepared to face up to globalisation. The author of the article plainly states that Christian Democracy has its own project for Europe, and that this project shares both the spirit of the founding fathers and all the philosophy driving the work of Maritain. Thus, Maritain is the future of Europe and of all mankind, which needs people like him, able to act on numerous fronts, driven by a commitment to their own conscience and to mankind.
