    Christian democracy tradition in Italy: historic legacy and ideological question [MA RIO TESINI] The reconsideration of a historic Christian democrat experience such as that which was experienced throughout the 20th Century in Italy and other European countries, is now completely unthinkable. At the beginning of the century, the Christian democrat parties were consolidated in national contexts with a strong tradition of intensely experienced popular and social Christianity, where often, parallel to an almost secular trajectory, there were solid and ramified ecclesiastic institutions whence, in the most serious moments of crisis, numerous important, and even charismatic, personalities emerged, who not only boasted a solid Christian training, but had also made evangelical testimony the prime reason driving all their activities, including their politics. At this moment in time, according to the author, the situation is very different. In this context of new scenarios, in the 21" Century, the author wonders why Christian Democracy has been dissolved in Italy. And what is the future of Christian democracy as a historic idea and as a political practice? These question marks help the author to articulate the new challenges and new proposals, as well as venture some answers, within the Christian democrat tradition, to the new future scenarios.

    La tradició democratacristiana a Itàlia: Ilegat històric i qüestió ideològica [MAMO TESINI] El replantejament d'una experiència històrica democratacristiana com la viscuda al llarg del segle XX, a Italia i a altres països europeus, és, a hores d'ara, completament impensable. En començar el segle, els partits democratacristians es consoliden en contextos nacionals en què hi ha una forta tradició d'un cristianisme popular i social intensament viscut; on hi ha, sovint paral¿lelament a una trajectòria gairebé secular, institucions eclesiàstiques sòlides i ramificades de les quals sorgien, en els moments de crisi més greus, nombroses personalitats de relleu, i fins i tot carismàtiques, que no només tenien una sòlida formació cristiana sinò que havien fet del testimoniatge evangèlic la primera raó de totes les seves activitats, incloent-hi, doncs, la política. En aquests moments, segons l'autor, la situaciò és molt diferent. En aquest context de nous escenaris, ja en ple segle XXI, l'autor es pregunta per què s'ha dissolt la Democracia Cristiana a Italia? I quin futur té la democracia cristiana com idea històrica i com praxi política? Aquests interrogants serveixen a l'autor per articular els nous reptes i les noves propostes, així com donar respostes, dins de la tradició democratacristiana, als nous escenaris de futur.
