Ethical Banks: A Consolidated Experience [ROGER SUNYER / ORIOL ALZINA] Ethical banks have become a strong reality in many countries all over the world. Yet, Europe is probably the place where these new financial institutions, seeking to promote a socially and environmentally responsible use of our savings, have reached a greater diversity. Through a wide range of ethical investment products, responsible savings are often channeled into financing areas ignored by traditional banks such as job creation, fighting poverty, environmental economy or third world cooperation. In his article four different ethical banks (Cooperative Bank, Triodos Bank, Caisse Solidaire Nord-Pas de Calais and Banca Etica Italiana) are described and no mention to existing experiences in Catalonia is made. This is due to extent limitations but also to our belief that this article is just a first step to improve catalan people's knowledge of ethical banks, which still remains limited.
