A reflection on the tradition and the actuality of the christian political thought [JAVIER TUSELL] In this article the author refers, as an essay and without intending to be original, to the contemporary political tradition of christian inspiration, as it was once defined. He also refers to some of the recent ups and downs which this political tradition has had to face, and which have changed it or at least have kept it up to date. There is no need to say that the author does not intend to undertake the pontifical magistery in these subjects. This is, at the same time the mother and the son of a tradition of political thought, at least partially autonomous, which is one of the existing families in the Western society. This political thought is not exactly the same as the programmes proposed by the demochristian political parties. However, since they intend to synthesize a coincident component, on the one hand, with the vindication of the individual rights and, on the other hand, with a comunitary or social element, is summarized, at the same time, in the expression <
