    El artículo intenta ofrecer una síntesis de los datos y resultados obtenidos en los estudios sobre el carácter español. Se concluye que no hay una base científica suficiente para afirmar que el español difícil significativa y sistemáticamente de otros pueblos occidentales en la estructura y distribución de la inteligencia, las aptitudes y el temperamento. Se examinan los estereotipos sobre el español y se comprueba que, dentro de las graves insuficiencias muestrales y la variabilidad de los datos según los tiempos y lugares, hay unanimidad en asignar al español el rasgo de apasionado. Sus actitudes, creencias y valores difieren de los atribuidos a otras etnias europeas cuando las circunstancias sociopolíticas y culturales son distintas, y se aproximan a ellas cuando estas circunstancias se asemejan

    The paper offers a synthesis of data and results of the bibliography on the Spanish personality There seems to be no scientific basis for holding the view that their is a systematic difference between the Spaniards and the other Western ethnic de groups in the structure and distribution of intelligence, abilities and eroctic personality. The stereotypes are examined as well as the attitudes, beliefs and values.
