  En este trabajo se exponen los conceptos nacionales e internacionales sobre los centros y conjuntos históricos, plasmados en leyes estatales y acuerdos, desde el siglo XIX hasta la actualidad. La normativa española sobre los centros y conjuntos históricos se ha visto influida por los principios de protección europeos del patrimonio heredado. Así, desde las primeras definiciones, que consideraban al monumento individual, hasta lo que hoy se considera como conjunto histórico.

  Spanish regulations on historical centres and monuments have been influenced by the principles of European Protection of inherited patrimonial heritage. Thus, from the first definitions, which considered the individual monument, up to what are now considered as being historical centres, authors (Viollet-le-Duc, Ruskin, Giovannoni, and Boito, amongst others); international criteria developed in the charter of Athens (31) and Venice (64), the document of Amsterdam (75), the conference of the UN (62), Nairobi (76), the UNESCO (85), etc., have consolidated and unified specific criteria on a global scale.
