La muerte repentina de Eugenio Nadal, redactor-jefe de la revista Destino, motivó la creación de un premio de novela que llevará su nombre. El éxito que obtuvieron en su primera convocatoria con Nada de Carmen Laforet, impulsó a la creación de otros premios literarios. Destaca Laforet entre los galardonados por el apoyo que supuso en sus inicios y la influencia que ejerció entre sus compañeros. El estudio de este premio nos posibilita aproximarnos a los comienzos de prestigiosos novelistas, ganadores o finalistas del Nadal, y conocer con mayor profundidad la narrativa de postguerra española.

The sudden decease of Eugenio Nadal, editor in chief of the magazine Destino, was the reason for the creation of an award in his memory. Its first and successful edition, having won Nada (Nothing) by Carmen Laforet, fostered the establishment of other literary awards. Laforet is to be highlighted because the support she stood for the beginnings of the award and her influence among her colleagues. This study on the Nadal Award enables us to approach the first literary steps of prestigious writers as well as to the Spanish narrative during the post-war period.
