  This is a survey on the wills and "post mortem" inventories made in Valladolid, 1550-1575. It has let us know the rates of reading and writing among inhabitants of the city: 44.7% of the population, with a 75.8% of men and a 24.2% of women, were capable of writing and 35.9%, with a 70.8% of men and a 29.2%of women, of reading

  Une recherche realisée sur les testaments et les inventaires "post mortem" de Valladolid, 1550-1575, nous a forni de l'information sur la capacité de lecture et d'écriture des habitants de la ville dans la periode indiquée. D'une part, 44.7% de la population écrivait, entre eux 75.8% hommes et 24.2% femmes. D'autre part, 35.9% lisait, 70.8% hommes et 29.3% femmes
