El descubrimiento y la autentificación de Altamira sirve como ejemplo de cómo mitos y creencias han condicionado la investigación de los conjuntos más importantes de arte paleolítico. Los profesionales deberían saber reconocer hasta qué punto sus interpretaciones están mediatizadas por su propio entorno
