Ludwig Mies van der Rohe y Frank Lloyd Wright han sido dos arquitectos muy influyentes en la arquitectura moderna universal. Sus obras, fundamentadas en filosofías diferentes, han representado dos maneras distintas de entender el mundo y de condicionar la vida del hombre. Algunos arquitectos españoles se sintieron influidos también por las obras de ambos, manifestando con sus propuestas enfrentadas una máxima tensión creciente durante las décadas de los años cincuenta y sesenta. Unos, tomando como referencia a Mies con el fin de hacer una arquitectura rigurosamente funcionalista, de alta tecnología y difusión rápida; otros, tomando como referencia a Wright con el fin de ofrecer una alternativa más organicista y humana, pero con menor fortuna.

Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Frank Lloyd Wright have been two very influential architects in the world of modern architecture. Their works based on different philosophies, have represented two distinct ways of understanding the world and of conditioning the life of man. Some Spanish architects were influenced by the works of both, demonstrating with their confronting proposals, a maximum tension growing throughout the 1950's and 60's. Some taking Mies as a reference, with the purpose of architecture as rigorously functional, of high technology and rapid difusion; others, taking Wright as a reference, with the purpose of offering a more organic and human alternative, but with less fortune.
