  • The present work is concerned with travel literature and more especially with that by travellers from European countries like Spain, France and England who went to Italy in the 19th century.

    At the same time it considers the important contribution made by this to aspects like philology, sociolinguistics and sociology. In the second partit examines the concept of journey the meaning it embodies and the different ways of carrying it out.
