This article analyzes Forja de Almas (Eusebio Fernández Ardavín 1942), a film biography of Father Andrés Manjón, a teacher in the early 20th century.
The Franco regime used this biography to legitimate Catholic-nationalist ideals.
In the film, state and church interests are shown as being the same; however, we should keep in mind that the film was made precisely at the moment when Falangistas and Catholics were at the height of their struggle over the abstract control of teaching.
