[eng] This thesis presents the results of the comparative analysis of community interventions carried out in two social service centres in Barcelona (Catalonia) and Montreal (Quebec). The aim of the research was to understand what role these community practices play in both territories, what the factors that explain the differences in the evolution of these practices are in each context, and to analyze the profile and the characteristics of professionals who develop these actions. Consistent with these objectives, the methodological framework of this research was that of comparative research and we chose the method of qualitative case study as the particular strategic research. This strategy has been developed based on the study of two cases: the Centre of Social Services in Poble Sec (Barcelona) and the Centre of Health and Social Services in Jeanne-Mance (Montreal). The selection of cases was based on extreme or deviant case sampling. Both cases selected are characterized for being centres that are promoting interventions in community work. The instruments to collect information were interviews, observation, and written materials. We tried that these strategies incorporate the views of the professionals of the two centres, as lead actors of community involvement in specific social settings. The contrast between the two cases has allowed us to identify the common dynamics between regions and to know the variables that explain their differences. A comparative study is justified because it can help to enrich the debates about the community-based intervention model of social services in both territories.
