The physical activity in the teaching-learning process, daily practice and in a structured physical education classes, not only develops the motor skills of children, but also their mental capacities (Le Boulch, 1988; Bee, 1996; Shepherd, 1997; Thompson, 1996;" Neto, 2004). However, we found that in Portugal there isn´t a legal, uniform and structured plan for the promotion of physical education in early childhood. We found that often turn out to be the parents to pay the physical education classes for their children. Following this problem this research intends to investigate the influence of physical education in Psychomotor development of students in preschool. The sample was consisted by a group of 324 students, divided into two groups, consisted by students of both genders, aged between three and five years old of nine Public kindergarten of the city of Porto (Portugal). Initially applied a battery of psychomotor tests (pre-test) in order to assess the profile of Psychomotor development of the students in the experimental group (EG = 162) and Control Group (CG = 162). This review consists of several exercises and activities that are distributed in five psychomotor skills: coordination and balance: laterality, body schema, spatial orientation and temporal orientation. After the first evaluation psychomotor (pre-test), a Physical Education teacher applied for 24 weeks a Structured Physical Education Plan (SPEP), one of the groups (EG). After completion of the SPEP was applied again the same battery of psychomotor tests (post-test) for both groups. The results showed that both groups evolved their psychomotor profile, however, this development was always higher in the experimental group (EG). Upon further analysis we conclude that the evolution of the psychomotor profile of the students with three and five years old, was always statistically superior in the GE. We also found that there were no significant variations with respect to gender.
