    Dentro de la estructura penitenciaria en México, la violencia y la inestabilidad social se han convertido en los grandes conflictos del sistema, pese a que su objetivo final es la reinserción social. Las limitantes de la estructura penal y de los centros penitenciarios, como responsables de cumplir dicho objetivo, propician la demanda de soluciones y propuestas. El teatro podría convertirse en herramienta fundamental para la rehabilitación y dignificación de la población penitenciaria por su condición de ejercicio mental vinculado con la retrospectiva reflexiva, ya que permite explorar la conciencia de la condición personal y reconocer el tránsito de las causalidades que conducen a ella.La necesidad de discutir, modificar y construir nuevos enfoques para la reinserción social abre paso a la reflexión sobre el ser humano y sus circunstancias; en consecuencia, el teatro penitenciario muestra un horizonte para transformar al sujeto mediante la introspección: puede convertirse en un medio para la deconstrucción de patrones de comportamiento arraigados y en una alternativa junto con los programas de cohesión social inspirados en el arte teatral, con el fin de disminuir la reincidencia criminal y responder a las necesidades de transformación y redignificación de los internos.

    Inside the mexican penitentiary structure, violence and social instability have become the biggest problems of the system. A system whose final objective is the social reintegration. The penal structure and penitentiary centers are accountables for reaching that objective. But both have limitations. Thus, they require the creation of solutions and proposals that respond to these needs. Theater could become a fundamental tool for the rehabilitation and dignification of the prison population thanks to its capacity of mental stimulation towards reflection and retrospective. It allows the exploration of the conscience and self-awareness of the actual condition of the inmate and recognition of the causalities that brought them to it. The need to discuss, modify and build new approaches for social reintegration, open the path to reflection about the human being and his circumstances. Therefore, the prison theater shows possibilities to transform the subject through introspection. It can become a mean for the deconstruction of rooted behavioural patterns and a possible alternative with the help of social cohesion programs inspired in theatrical art. Then, it may reduce criminal recidivism and respond to the need of transformation and redignification of inmates.
