Asociación entre memoria y rendimiento en matemáticas: un estudio correlacional

    El objetivo del estudio es determinar la asociación entre la memoria y el rendimiento académico en matemáticas de   estudiantes de educación básica primaria. El trabajo se centra en la investigación cuantitativa de tipo correlacional con diseño no experimental. Se utilizó la batería neuropsicológica Neuropsi y las calificaciones en matemáticas de 45 estudiantes con edades entre 10 y 12 años. El análisis de los resultados indica que hay una correlación significativa entre memoria de trabajo y las calificaciones en la asignatura de matemáticas de los estudiantes. Como conclusión, se puede afirmar que a mayor amplitud de memoria de trabajo mayor rendimiento en matemáticas, luego, una preparación adecuada y oportuna de la memoria de trabajo de los estudiantes debe fortalecer su rendimiento académico en matemáticas.

    The aim of the study is to determine the association between memory and academic performance in mathematics in primary school students. The work focuses on quantitative correlational research with a non-experimental design. The Neuropsi neuropsychological battery and the mathematics scores of 45 students aged between 10 and 12 years were used. The analysis of the results indicates that there is a significant correlation between working memory and students’ mathematics grades. As a conclusion, it can be stated that the greater the extent of working memory, the higher the performance in mathematics, therefore, adequate, and timely preparation of students’ working memory should strengthen their academic performance in mathematics.
