    Introducido en las ciencias sociales por los psicoanalistas, los filósofos y antropólogos, el concepto de “imaginario social” parece difícilmente compatible con el enfoque de la disciplina histórica. Al examinar las pocas obras históricas, principalmente francesas y angloamericanas, que han usado este concepto, y basándose en la propia obra del autor, este artículo propone pistas para superar este obstáculo inicial. Y pregunta por terminar sobre las posibles ganancias heurísticas que el uso de la noción de imaginario social puede aportar a la historia.

    Introduced into social sciences by psychoanalysts, philosophers and anthropologists, the concept of the “social imaginary” appears incompatible with the historical approach. This article studies the few historical works, mainly French and Anglo-American, which have used this concept, and uses the author’s own work to propose methods to overcome this initial obstacle. It ultimately asks a question regarding the heuristic gains, which, using the notion of social imaginary, can contribute to history.
