    Este trabajo es parte de un proyecto de investigación sobre participación ciudadana en materia ambiental. Específicamente se examina el concepto democracia participativa, sus diversos ámbitos de aplicación, la relación entre representación y participación, la forma en que la Corte Constitucional asume dicho concepto, para pasar al estudio de los mecanismos de participación previstos en la Ley Estatutaria de Participación Ciudadana (Ley 134 de 1994) precisando el significado y principales características de cada uno de ellos, luego se hace breve alusión a la aplicación de dicha Ley en los asuntos ambientales y se concluye formulando algunas reflexiones de orden socio-político sobre el modelo de democracia participativa en Colombia.

    This work is a part of an investigation project about citizen participation in environmental subject. Specifically it exams the concept of participative democracy, its several range of application, the relation between representation and participation, how the Constitutional Court assumes that concept, then continue with the study of the participation mechanisms planned in the Statutory Law of Citizen Participation (Law 134 of 1994) specifying the mean and the main characteristics of each one of they, then it makes a short reference to the application of that Law in the environmental matters and it concludes formulating some reflections socio- politic order about the participative democracy model in Colombia
