    La situación en Malí, especialmente en la región central, se ha ido deteriorando durante los últimos meses, por lo que un grupo de países de la región, conocido como G5 Sahel (Burkina Faso, Malí, Mauritania, Níger y Chad) ha decidido establecer una Fuerza Militar Conjunta para luchar contra el terrorismo yihadista. El proyecto se ha visto particularmente impulsado por la Unión Africana y por la Unión Europea (apoyo político y financiero). Tras la incorporación del dosier, con el respaldo francés, a la agenda del Consejo de Seguridad de Naciones Unidas, el proceso ha culminado con una resolución de apoyo, pero que deja sin resolver temas tan cruciales como el mandato o la financiación.

    The situation in Mali, especially in the central region, has been deteriorating for the past months. A group of countries in the region known as G5 Sahel (Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Chad) has decided to set up a joint military force to fight against jihadist terrorism. The project has been particularly driven by the African Union as well as the EU (political and financial support). After the inclusion of the dossier, with French support, on the UN Security Council agenda, the process has culminated in a resolution supporting this initiative, but that still leaves unresolved very important problems, such as the mandate or funding.
