    La presentación de una obra reciente, sobre síndromes descritos durante el siglo pasado, reagrupados bajo la etiqueta, un poco abusiva, de patologías ficticias es la ocasión de mostrar que una de las características del malestar en nuestra civilización puede aprehenderse, no en relación con la “incompletud” o la “dimisión” del Otro, sino, al contrario, en esa impostura que conduce a cualquier “pequeño otro” a ocupar con complacencia el lugar del “gran Otro”, sin embargo, destinado a permanecer vacante.

    The presentation of a recent work on syndromes described during the last century and somewhat abusively labeled as fictitious pathologies provides the opportunity to show that one of the characteristics of the malaise in our civilization can be grasped, not in relation to the “incompleteness” or “abandonment of its position” of the Other, but rather, with respect to that imposture that leads any “small other” to complacently occupy the place of the “big Other”, a place which is nevertheless fated to remain vacant.
