    This article focuses on Miguel Reale’s culturalistic and three-dimensional epistemology, which is known as three-dimensionalistic culturalism. It aims to investigate his notion of science of law and whether it can contribute to the advance of the science of law. Thus, fi rstly we focus on the analysis of culturalism and the notion of structure of law, i.e. we investigate Reale’s criterion for the demarcation of the scientific knowledge of law and its object of study. Secondly, we analyze the three-dimensional structure of law proposed by Reale in order to understand his idea of science of law and of norm as a basic object. Thirdly, we attempt to answer the question whether Reale’s view of law and science of law can help to advance the scientific knowledge of law, allowing us to distinguish between scientific and doctrinal research.Key words: legal knowledge, juridical methodology, science of law, three-dimensional theory of law, juridical culturalism, Miguel Reale.

    Este artigo tem por objeto a epistemologia culturalista e tridimensional de Miguel Reale. O principal objetivo é investigar o que é a Ciência do Direito em seu pensamento, assim como se essa concepção da teoria do conhecimento pode contribuir para o progresso do conhecimento jurídico científico. Para tanto, em primeiro lugar, este artigo centrou-se na análise da concepção culturalista de Reale, focando-se na noção de estrutura do Direito. Ou seja, preliminarmente, investigou-se o critério de demarcação da Ciência do Direito proposto e o seu objeto de estudo. Em segundo lugar, focou-se no modelo de estrutura tridimensional do Direito presente no pensamento realeano, no intuito de compreender a sua ideia de Ciência Jurídica e de norma enquanto objeto fundamental. A partir disso, em terceiro lugar, intentou-se responder o seguinte questionamento: se a concepção realeana de Direito e de Ciência Jurídica pode contribuir para o progresso do conhecimento científico do Direito, permitindo-nos uma distinção entre a pesquisa científica e a pesquisa doutrinária.Palavras-chave: conhecimento jurídico, metodologia jurídica, Ciência do Direito, Ciência Jurídica, teoria tridimensional do direito, culturalismo jurídico, Miguel Reale.
