    El artículo se centra sobre cuatro mitos y aspectos controvertidos de la Terapia Cognitiva.  En el primero de ellos se cuestiona las concepciones que sostienen que las Terapias Cognitivas son solo una técnica de reestructuración cognitiva, que pertenece a la terapia o a la modificación de la conducta, y que por lo tanto no tienen un modelo teórico ni una metodología propia. En el segundo, que la causa del comportamiento y de las emociones es el pensamiento. En el tercero, se concluye que no es cierto que el terapeuta cognitivo irrespete al paciente porque le impone sus criterios. En el cuarto, se muestra que no es cierto que las Terapias Cognitivas se olviden de los aspectos no racionales del ser humano, y que pretendan volverlo un procesador frío y lógico de la información.

    This paper focuses on four myths and controversial issues about cognitive therapy. The first of these controversial issues is the idea that cognitive therapies are just a technique of cognitive restructuring that belongs to the behavior modification therapies, and that because this is does not have its own theoretical model or a methodology. The second contentious issue refers to the idea that for the cognitive therapies the cause of human behavior and emotions is just the thinking process. The third controversial issue originates on the false idea that cognitive therapists disrespect their patients imposes their criteria on them. For the discussion of the fourth contentious issue it is showed as untrue that the cognitive therapies forget human beings non-rational aspects, and that they do not pretend to turn humans into cold and logical processors of information.
