Los efectos de la transformación territorial del Estado español sobre el PSOE y el PP

    Aquest article qüestiona la idea que l'estructura territorial dels partits polítics sempre tendirà a assemblar-se a la de l'estat en què opera. Primerament, des d'un punt de vista teòric i com a base en una discussió de la literatura dedicada a estudiar el comportament partidista, se sosté l'argument que l'efecte dels factors extrapartidistes sobre el comportament dels partits està condicionat per factors intrapartidistes, com ara el grau de cohesió de la coalició dominant de l'organització i la seva capacitat per assolir els objectius organitzacionals principals. Segonament, des d'un punt de vista empíric, aquest article aporta evidències qualitatives que reforcen l'argument principal. Les dades que presenta confirmen no només que els partits no reaccionen necessàriament als canvis en l'estructura territorial de l'Estat de la manera que fins i tot la literatura havia predit, sinó que, a més a més, dues organitzacions partidistes que operen en un mateix sistema polític poden reaccionar de manera diferent als canvis en el seu entorn.

    This article questions the idea that the territorial structure of political parties will always tend to be similar to that of the state in which they operate. In the first place, from a theoretical point of view and as a basis for a discussion of the literature pertaining to the study of party comportment, the argument is made that the effect of extra-party factors on their comportment is conditioned by factors within the parties, such as the degree of cohesion within the organisation's dominant coalition and its capacity to attain the main organisational objectives. In second place, from an empirical perspective, the article provides qualitative evidence reinforcing the main argument. Data presented in the article confirms not only that parties do not necessarily react to changes in the territorial structure of the State in the way predicted by the literature, but also that two party organisations operating within the same political system may react differently to changes in their environment
