The interdependence relation between media and politics has been described as “media democracy”. Recent changes in information access technologies force us to reconsider this term regarding the new “electronic democracy” approach, far much recent and with consequences and shades which can only be discussed from a theoretical point of view. The authors review the foundations of both approaches, its convergence in the context of contemporary changes in national media systems and the questions for the future.
