The contemporary climate crisis is one of humanity's greatest challenges, affecting everyone, directly or indirectly. However, despite this, socially vulnerable groups are more exposed to climate issues, generating a situation of climate injustice. In this context, this article investigates the manifestation of the phenomenon of climate injustice in the city of Recife, adopting the perspective of gender and race to find out whether black women are more vulnerable to the floods that hit the city, what is the level of this inequality and what are the the paths to get around it. To achieve this, the mixed qualitative and quantitative method will be used, applying theoretical discussions about gender and the environment to the gender and race data of the victims affected by the 2022 flood, considered, in the region, the biggest climate disaster of the century. It has been proven that, in fact, black women are the main victims of the floods in Recife, demonstrating climate injustice with gender and race factors that requires targeted and specific public policies to be overcome.
