This chapter presents a didactic proposal for the subject of Spanish Language and Literature with the aim of improving reading and literary education, exploring newpossibilities for literary learning through childhood and youth literature and encouraging the reading habit with active and innovative methodologies such as the literary route. Inour example, we chose the literary figure of Vicente Blasco Ibáñez, Valencian writer and politician, and a work by Vicente Muñoz Puelles entitled El último manuscrito de Blasco Ibáñez (2017). We will explain the objectives set, the contents developed, the different methodologies used and the theoretical results of the literary route. Finally, we willconsider the importance of the different forms of evaluation to assess the usefulness of the new methodologies in the classroom and we will compare the positive aspects and benefits of this project with the difficulties and problems that may arise in the practical application of this didactic sequence in a secondary school.
