El uso de los términos crisis y emergencia humanitaria condiciona la gravedad de los conflictos,pues determina el tipo de atención y tratamiento de las víctimas, sobre todo cuando comprende lapresencia de civiles, en medio de la línea de fuego, en una guerra o enfrentamiento bélico. En elcaso venezolano, la situación no responde a un enfrentamiento militar contra civiles, por eso se hacerelevante determinar qué término es el más apropiado para describir los acontecimientos. El estudioanaliza la narrativa de L’Osservatore Romano sobre la problemática en Venezuela, en el año 2018, através de los síntomas que describen una situación humanitaria, a saber: las condiciones políticas,de alimentación, de salud y de movilidad humana, a través del abordaje de 47 ediciones en las queaparecen los temas señalados, así mismo, el uso de fotografías y las palabras empleadas paradescribir el escenario. El estudio es una investigación cuantitativa desde el análisis descriptivo de lamuestra. Los resultados demuestran un mayor enfoque en el tema de la migración, específicamenteen los menores de edad, y que la Santa Sede utilizó la categoría de crisis humanitaria para reseñar lasituación en el país, al igual que lo hicieron diversos organismos internacionales.

The use of the term’s crisis and humanitarian emergency conditions the seriousness of conflicts,since it determines the type of attention and treatment of the victims, especially when it includes thepresence of civilians in the middle of the line of fire in a war or warlike confrontation. In theVenezuelan case, the situation does not respond to a military confrontation against civilians, so it isrelevant to determine which term is the most appropriate to describe the events. The study analyzesthe narrative of L'Osservatore Romano on the problems in Venezuela, in 2018, through thesymptoms that describe a humanitarian situation, namely: political, food, health, and humanmobility conditions, through the approach of 47 editions in which the indicated topics appear, aswell as the use of photographs and the words used to describe the scenario.The study is quantitative research from the descriptive analysis of the sample. The results show agreater focus on the issue of migration, specifically on minors, and that the Holy See used thecategory of humanitarian crisis to describe the situation in the country, as did various internationalorganizations.
