Este artículo plantea una nueva hipótesis de ubicación de la ciudad de Lakka y el río wādī Lakka, y refuta la teoría que, desde el siglo XIX hasta la actualidad, sitúa la batalla de 711 entre las tropas de Rodrigo y Tāriq b. Ziyād en la laguna de La Janda y las cercanías de Algeciras.
Basado en un análisis detallado de fuentes árabes y toponimia medieval, se argumenta que la confrontación histórica tuvo lugar a orillas del río Guadalete, en la cora de Sidonia. El estudio también revisa las contribuciones de varios historiadores que, a lo largo del tiempo, han sostenido ubicaciones alternativas para la batalla, y subraya la necesidad de una interpretación más precisa de las fuentes documentales y geográficas

This article proposes a new hypothesis regarding the location of the city of Lakka and the wādī Lakka river, and discuss the traditional hypothesis that, from the XIXth century until today, places the 711 battle between the troops of Rodrigo and Tāriq b. Ziyād at La Janda lagoon near Algeciras. Based on a detailed analysis of Arabic sources and medieval toponymy, it is argued that the historical confrontation took place on the banks of the Guadalete River, in the Sidonia district. The study also reviews the contributions of various historians who, over time, have supported alternative locations for the battle, and emphasizes the need for a more accurate interpretation of documentary and geographical sources
