Resumen de La ciudad escolar de A Coruña: compromiso entre el equipamiento educativo y los espacios de intervención cultural.

  Analizamos la Ciudad Escolarde A Coruña, que fue fruto del deseo de la ciudad herculina de contar con centros de enseñanza superior ya desde mediados del siglo xix. El proyecto se fraguó durante la Segunda República, con diseño del arquitecto Antonio Tenreiro Rodríguez, y se recuperó tras la guerra civil. En un período de quince años se erigieron los edificios del Instituto Masculino, las Escuelas de Comercio y de Náutica y la Normal. Muy afectada por el desarrollo urbano, en la actualidad mantiene la oferta educativa y la combina con iniciativas socioculturales de diverso matiz.

  We analyse the School City of Corunna, that was the result of the desire of the city of higher education institutions as early as the middle of the 19th century. The project wasforged during the Second Republic, designed by architect Antonio Tenreiro Rodríguez, and recovered after the civil war. In a period of fifteen years the buildings of the Secondary School, the Schools of Commerce and Navigation, and the Teachers Training School were erected. Seriously affected by urban development, it currently maintains the educational offer and combines it with socio-cultural initiatives of different kinds.
