Resumen de Community Participation and Sustainable Outcomes in SlumUpgrading: A Case Study of Medellin

• The purpose of this study conducted within an on-going PhD thesis is to explore the correlation between community participation and long-term outcomes of slum upgrading initiatives inMedellin, Colombia. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study utilizes data from various sources, including Medellin's government, NGOs, and organizations engaged in the projects. Thefindings underscore the significance of community participation in the success of slum upgrading programs. Trust, communication, and resource availability are key factors influencing participation.The study also highlights the necessity of mobilizing communities and fostering collaboration with the government and other stakeholders for the enduring success of upgrading initiatives.
