The acceleration in menarcheal age of rural girls from farmers, farmer-workers and non-farmer families, during the period 1967-2001 amounted to 0.98 years, 0.95 years and to only 0.60 years, respectively. Non farmer rural families experienced the food limitation during the acute economic crisis (1978-1989) and the high level of unemployment after the political transformation (1989) and after the liquidation of state own farms in 1992. The farmers families, the food producers, did not safer from food shortages neither from unemployment.
