  • We develop a new method for the analysis of the mtDNA sequences from a 1122 individuals database, containing 26 populations of European, African and Asian origin, between sites 16126 and 16369 (243 base pairs) of the HVR-I. The method classifies the populations according to the e-classes procedure. In order to construct the e-classes, we need to define a disimilarity between population pairs. The disimilarity considered is the Hadamard average distance. This distance between every possible sequence pair accounts for the number of mismatchs across the 243 nucleotide positions. With the desimimilarity function between population pairs, the method yields clusters for each e-level. The disimilarity between every possible pair of populations of the cluster must be always lower than e. The method yields a fuzzy classification of the 26 population.
