    This article relates the preliminary results of an archaeological mission carried out in and around the mosque of the qaṣba of Ahl Wṭāṭ. However, the facts observed show an old building whose archaeological evidence dates its foundation back to a period ranging from the XVIth to the XVIIIth centuries.

    The oldest but also the most authentic part is the tower-minaret built on a rubble base and erected exclusively in raw brick. Its typical truncated pyramidal shape makes it similar to the minarets of Sahelo-Sudanese type mosques found in a larger cultural area encompassing southeastern Morocco and south-western Algeria as well as the countries south of the Sahara represented by Niger, Mali and northern Côte d’Ivoire

    Le présent article relate les résultats préliminaires d’une mission archéologique effectuée dans et autour de la mosquée de la qaṣba d’Ahl Wṭāṭ présumée almoravide. Cependant, les faits constatés font état d’une bâtisse ancienne dont les indices archéologiques en font remonter la fondation, à une période allant du XVIème au XVIIIème siècles.

    La partie la plus ancienne mais aussi la plus authentique est la tour-minaret bâtie sur une base en moellons et maçonnée exclusivement en brique crue. Sa forme typique en tronc pyramidale l’apparente aux minarets des mosquées de type sahélo-soudanais qu’on retrouve dans une aire culturelle plus vaste englobant le sud-est marocain et le sud-ouest algérien ainsi que les pays au sud du Sahara représentés par le Niger, le Mali et le Nord de la Côte d’Ivoire
