Resumen de Eduard Fontserè i l’Assaig d’un vocabulari meteorològic català: rigor terminològic, interès lingüístic i base dialectal

Eduard Fontserè i Riba (Barcelona, 1870-1970) és un científic referent dels àmbits de l’astronomia, la meteorologia i la sismologia. Com a fundador i primer director del Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, és considerat el pare de la meteorologia professional catalana. Una de les obres destacades de la seva bibliografia és l’Assaig d’un vocabulari meteorològic català (Fontserè, 1948), que encara avui en dia és un diccionari de referència per als experts en meteorologia. La importància d’aquesta obra, però, no s’hauria de limitar a l’àmbit de la meteorologia, sinó que també es pot considerar un diccionari pioner i de gran rellevància dins de l’àmbit de la terminologia com a disciplina, tant per la metodologia utilitzada com pel seu abast.

Eduard Fontserè i Riba (Barcelona, 1870-1970) was a leading scientist in the fields of astronomy, meteorology and seismology. As the founder and first director of the Meteorological Service of Catalonia, he is considered the father of professional Catalan meteorology. One of the outstanding works in his bibliography is Assaig d’un vocabulari meteorològic català (Essay on a Catalan Meteorological Vocabulary, 1948), which is still today a reference dictionary for meteorology experts. The importance of this work, however, is not limited to the field of meteorology since it can also be considered a pioneering and highly significant dictionary in the context of terminology as a discipline, for both its methodology and its scope.
