La amplia variedad de grafías manuscritas cursivas coexistentes durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVI y comienzos del XVII conforma el contexto en el que el dominio de escritura vinculado a la fe pública notarial castellana encuentra en la llamada letra “procesal encadenada” una de sus más genuinas y complejas manifestaciones. Se revisan algunos de sus fundamentos gráficos y características morfológicas definitorias como el grado de separación entre grafemas a partir de un análisis que integra perspectivas procedentes de la caligrafía analógica y digital y el empleo del microscopio digital para realizar mediciones de precisión con resultados que sientan las bases de una próxima y necesaria revisión en profundidad.

The wide range of handwritten cursive typologies from the second half of the 16th century and the beginning of the 17th century make up the context in which the domain of writing linked to the Castilian notarial public faith finds in the so-called “procesal encadenada” letter one of its most genuine and complex manifestations. Some of its graphic features and defining morphological characteristics are reviewed, such as the degree of separation between graphemes with an analysis that integrates perspectives from analogic and digital calligraphy and the use of the digital microscope to carry out precision measurements with outcomes that establish the foundations for a next and necessary in-depth review.
