Resumen de Justicia y conciliación en perspectiva de género: la ciudad de Santiago de Compostela a finales del Antiguo Régimen

  A partir de 1820 se implanta en la ciudad de Santiago de Compostela la Justicia de Paz. Se trata de un mecanismo mediante el que se solucionan conflictos, tanto de tipo civil como penal, surgidos en el desarrollo de las relaciones personales entre vecinos o familiares. A su vez, son un conjunto de causas de formulación y tramitación breve, cuyo objetivo es el de evitar recurrir a instancias judiciales superiores y proceder a litigio. En esta casuística de la conflictividad cotidiana, o tono menor, intervenían con gran frecuencia mujeres, tanto de la ciudad como del campo. Entendemos que es un fondo de gran interés para la historia social y, sin embargo, apenas estudiado. Por este motivo, en esta comunicación abordamos de forma transversal la tipología de los conflictos tratados en esas desavenencias y hacemos hincapié en aquellas causas que afectan a la existencia cotidiana de esas mujeres que, en su inmensa mayoría, pertenecían a las clases medias y bajas de la ciudad y su entorno.

  In 1820, the Justice of the Peace was introduced in the city of Santiago de Com-postela. This is a mechanism for resolving conflicts, both civil and criminal, arising in the development of personal relations between neighbours or family mem-bers. At the same time, they are a set of cases of brief formulation and processing, whose objective is to avoid resorting to higher judicial instances and proceeding to litigation. In this casuistry of daily conflict, or minor issues, women, both from the city and the countryside, were very often involved. We understand that this is a background of great interest for social history and, nevertheless, hardly studied. For this reason, in this paper we address in a transversal way the typology of the conflicts dealt with in these disagreements and we emphasise those causes that affect the daily existence of these women who, for the most part, belonged to the middle and lower classes of the city and its surroundings.
