La investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar Infecciones del tracto urinario y sus complicaciones en el embarazo en pacientes que acuden al hospital del IESS Portoviejo. Las infecciones bacterianas en vías urinarias más comunes en las gestantes son la bacteriuria asintomática, pielonefritis, cistitis, entre otras. Es muy común a nivel mundial, pero especialmente en países en vías de desarrollo. Este tipo de infecciones causa complicaciones en la gestación que incluso pueden llegar a afectar el producto. Se efectuó la revisión de historias clínicas a 100 mujeres que fueron al hospital del IESS en Portoviejo por asistencia médica ginecológica. Lográndose encontrar en los urocultivos Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, entre otras. Presentaron complicaciones como embarazo pretérmino, principio de aborto. Muchas de las gestantes no conocían sobre las IVU. Presentaron cistitis asintomática, pielonefritis aguda.

he objective of the research was to determine urinary tract infections and their complications in pregnancy in patients who attend the IESS Portoviejo hospital. The most common bacterial infections in the urinary tract in pregnant women are asymptomatic bacteriuria, pyelonephritis, and cystitis, among others. It is very common worldwide, but especially in developing countries. This type of infection causes complications in pregnancy that can even affect the product. A review of medical records was carried out on 100 women who went to the IESS hospital in Portoviejo for gynecological medical assistance. Being able to find Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, among others, in urine cultures. They presented complications such as preterm pregnancy, beginning of abortion. Many of the pregnant women did not know about SUT. They presented asymptomatic cystitis, acute pyelonephritis.
