    El presente artículo estudia la relación entre el Estado de Derecho y el Estado Social en los textos doctrinarios fundamentales que dieron origen a estos conceptos. Para ello, nos detenemos en las diferentes tradiciones del Estado de Derecho (alemanas, francesas e inglesas), a fin de esclarecer la especificidad de cada una de ellas y mostrar que la dimensión social del Estado no constituye una novedad histórica y lógicamente posterior a la configuración liberal del orden del Estado de Derecho, sino más bien una reformulación de la misma, que tiene antecedentes inequívocos en la Revolución Francesa y en la tradición británica del Rule of Law.

    This paperfocuses onthe relationship between the Rule of Law and the Social State in itsfundamental doctrinal sources. To do this, we studythe different traditions of the Rule of Law (German, French and English) in order to clarify the particularityof each of them and to show that the social dimension of the State isnot a historical and logical innovationsubsequent to the liberal configurationof the Rule of Laworder, but rather a reformulation of it, which has clearprecedentsin the French Revolution and in the British tradition of the Rule of Law.
