Francisco Ximénez Maza (1611-1670), natural de Tarazona, fue uno de los pintores más destacados en Aragón de todo el siglo XVII. Desde los Discursos practicables (h. 1673) de Jusepe Martínez, tratadistas, viajeros, eruditos e investigadores han dado a conocer algunos datos acerca de su vida o de su producción artística. En este artículo, además de aportar noticias inéditas, se recogen y precisan todas estas menciones llevando a cabo un análisis historiográfico sobre la figura de este interesante pintor turiasonense
Francisco Ximénez Maza (1611-1670) was one of the most important painters in Aragon during the entire sixteenth century. Since the Discursos practicables by Jusepe Martínez, numerous treatises, travelers, scholars and researchers have provided interesting data or have approached the study of the painter born in Tarazona. In this article, in addition to provide unpublished news, we make a historiographic analysis of the figure of this interesting painter.
