    Our spor ts are special and ours. That’s why Basque Sport, Basque Ball and Rowing are listed as strategic sports. Hence they need a special care and cultivation, because their origin and mode of transmission is quite different and peculiar from other sports, especially in Basque Sports. We’re going to focus here on how rural sports have been cultivated and transmitted throughout history. The “sagas” between families, the defense of the name of the farm and the family in the square, the bet, the competition... but how do we work and transmit our country sports today? Here is an explanation of the first project from the Sustabiz Foundation, the Basque Sport Center created in Gernika and the objective of programming the days “Urdaibai Promoting Our Sports”. Work and transmit the origins and customs of our spor ts to young people by analysing the current situation.

    Gure Kirolak, bereziak eta gureak dira. Horregatik daude kirol estrategikotzat izendatuak Herri Kirolak, Euskal Pilota eta Arrauna. Haatik, zaintza eta lanketa berezi bat behar dute, beraien jatorria eta transmisio era ere, beste kirol batzuekin alderatuta guztiz desberdina eta berezia delako, batik bat Herri Kiroletan. Hemen jarriko dugu fokua, historian zehar nola landu eta transmititu diren herri kirolak. Familien arteko sagak, baserriaren eta familiaren izenaren defentsa plazan, apustua, lehia… baina gaur egun nola landu eta transmititu gure Herri Kirolak? Hemen, Sustabiz Fundaziotik sortutako lehen proiektua, Gernikan abian jarritako Herri Kirol zentroa eta “Urdaibai Gure Kirolak Sustatzen” jardunaldien programazioaren helburua azaltzen ditugu. Gazteengan, gaur eguneko egoera aztertuta, gure kirolen jatorria eta ohiturak lantzea eta transmititzea litzateke xedea.
