    Analizamos la trayectoria vital del doctor ingeniero de minas, Juan Ru- bio de la Torre, además de sus trabajos e investigaciones en la cuenca minera de Cartagena-La Unión. Así como sus publicaciones, la patente que desarrolló duran- te años, aumentando el rendimiento de los hornos de fundición, y la sociedad que le tocó vivir a caballo entre finales del siglo XIX y primera mitad del XX.

    We analyze the life history of the mining engineer doctor, Juan Rubio de la Torre, in addition to his work and research in the Cartagena-La Unión mining basin. As well as his publications, the patent that he developed over the years, in- creasing the performance of smelting furnaces, and the society in which he lived between the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th.
